After graduation from the Academy, you will report to the Caroline County Sheriff's Office for duty. Your police authority will be county wide. After checking in for duty after the Police Academy you will be supervised by an experienced Field Training Officer (FTO) in the Sheriff's Office for eight weeks.
During this period, you will be afforded the opportunity to apply your Academy education and training to actual police situations. Following satisfactory completion of field training, you will be assigned to your patrol group for active duty.
Upon being accepted to the Caroline County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff, you will be assigned an FTO. Even if you are an experienced police verteran, you will have to go through the agency FTO program. This is mainly used to familiarize you with how our agency rules, regulations, and reporting process functions. At the completion of the eight week FTO program you will be assigned to your patrol group for active duty.
