Caroline County Sheriff Randy Bounds, along with other public officials from local and state governments presented Mr. George Jackson the William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award. This noble award was given to Mr. Jackson by the Maryland State Comptroller Peter Franchot who wanted to show his appreciation to Jackson for his tireless advocacy for a new Dover Bridge and his support for U.S. Troops.
Sheriff Randy Bounds was one of the guest speakers at this event, which was held along side Dover Bridge. During the ceromoney Sheriff Randy Bounds commended Mr. Jackson for his hard work related to supporting our troops, transportation projects, and to our community in Caroline County. Sheriff Randy Bounds stated "George Jackson is a person of inspiration and devotion to our community here in Caroline County....".
Design plans for the new Dover Bridge are complete, bringing construction of a safer passage between Caroline and Talbot counties closer than ever before. A groundbreaking could be held in fall 2014.
